Marketing Labs’ Matt Janaway addressed a packed audience at The Royal Institution in London on the future of AI, this month.
Agency founders, leaders, and their teams attended the AI summit organised by Agency Hackers, a membership community for independent marketing agencies.
The line-up of seminars and workshops was aptly titled ‘The Robots Are Coming’.
Speakers from various agencies at all levels contributed to the day, which aimed to debate the biggest questions on AI.
Is AI here to help or take over our jobs?
“For every single turning point in digital marketing, we’ve heard: ‘Digital marketing is finished. SEO is dead’. But it’s not; you just have to adapt,” said Matt.
Matt has worked in SEO for decades. He’s seen trends come and go, yet the industry and his business are still thriving.
“There’s probably been ten big changes in the past 20 years where people have panicked about the future of digital marketing. With AI, it’s not about panic; it’s about adapting and using the opportunity,” says Matt.
More capacity means we can add more value
We’ve been using AI to streamline our processes for over five years. Website migration has had the most significant impact in terms of time saved.
“The average website migration is a few hundred pages. Normally, that process would take three or four working days to review all the data. We’ve managed to get that down to about two or three hours,” explained Matt.
“AI shortcuts like these have saved us a huge amount of time, which we can then spend on clients. So, in that case, it has indirectly impacted our growth. We have more capacity, which means we can sell more time.”
Matt’s contribution at the London AI Summit was met with acclaim.
Founders and agency leaders left with a clearer idea of how to use AI and key takeaways that could be implemented immediately.
